After the
fun time we had at the Houston rodeo a few weeks ago, there was no keeping Michael from the local rodeo . . . especially since all the people at the Houston one said we HAD to see a small local rodeo . . . one where we could sit close enough to "see the snot fly." Umm, appetizing? So, with that ringing recommendation, we headed off to the
YMBL Rodeo at the Southeast Texas State Fair last night for another helping of "calf wrestlin', bull ridin' and bronc bustin'." We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this rodeo. While it seemed like fewer cowboys were able to complete their events (a outcome we think may be related to the size of the arena), it was neat to be so much closer to the action. Fortunately, we were still far away that I wasn't hit by any flying snot!
I did manage to pull out my camera to take some action shots, but as anyone who's been to a rodeo can attest, taking those action shots was quite difficult! Here's the best of what's on the camera (and if I ever figure out video, I'll post a few of those too!)
Michael, rocking the Stetson Isn't it a beautiful sight? Couldn't resist!
National Anthem, before the events started.
The clowns have the important job of distracting the animals if (when!) a cowboy hits the ground. Unlike Houston, though, these clowns also did a fair amount of entertaining between the events as well.
Did he get his cow? Yes, he did!
Buckin' bronc
Haha, finally have a video uploaded! The other one I took is too large, though. :-(
